With just a short few days to go, all eyes are now on Brussels as the destination for our 2024 edition of the World Confectionery Conference, as it returns to Brussels this Thursday (12 September).
As we’ve detailed previously, sustainability and innovation right across our varied market segments will be taking a core priority for this year’s show, as we return to Belgium. If you’ve never been to our show, or this is your third occasion at our event, we welcome one and all – so please do register via the following direct link to be part of our celebrations.
You can expect plenty of lively discussion on everything from latest confectionery trends across confectionery and snacks markets, through to supply chain challenges in critical cocoa markets, which are about to be subjected to new EUDR legislation that has sparked a global debate on just how such a wide-ranging, yet undoubtedly worthy set of laws can be implemented.
On two key levels, Brussels works as a brilliant confectionery centre with its long association with chocolate and pralines in particular on the finished product side, as well as for its policymaking – which has very much taken centre stage this year for a raft of incoming statutes including corporate due diligence laws that will also impact on the entire food and drink sector.
These considerations are assuredly a significant consideration for many businesses right across the spectrum of industry, and we’ll welcome the chance to get the heart of these matters in seeking shared solutions for some of the biggest tests that are making headlines in 2024.
There will of course be some lighter moments of celebration for our event, through our World Confectionery Awards, with presentations for six categories, including for sustainability, in finished products, equipment, ingredients, team of the year, and our new category of emerging enterprise of the year. Our internal panel were genuinely impressed by the quality of entries across the board, which in itself is an encouraging sign regarding the state of our industries.
Our celebrations don’t end there, with our closing drinks reception marking Confectionery Production’s 90th birthday, which really is a chance for our assembled guests to let their hair down a little, and mingle with fellow attendees in a relaxed setting – so please do make the most of our full day’s programme, which we hope will prove both informative and engaging for you all.
As if that weren’t enough, on the morning of Friday, 13 September Friday, we have a separate chocolate tasting experience which can be booked through the following link. This is being run by Cathy Manlow, of the Academy of Chocolate, who will be among guests at our main event on Thursday, so make sure you find her to be part of that exclusive event for our visitors. Here’s hoping to see as many of you as possible in Brussels this week, as there’s an awful lot to catch up on across the industry.
