Groundbreaking ceremony for Givaudan’s CHF 50 million Indonesian snacks and savoury powder facilities

Fragrance, taste and wellbeing business, Givaudan has unveiled the initial phase of work on its CHF 50 million investment into an advanced production facility in Cikarang, Indonesia, as it continue to commit to the South East Asia region, writes Neill Barston.
A groundbreaking ceremony for the location has been carried out and it is anticipated to complement its existing facility in the country, featuring 24,000 square metres within a total reserved land area of 50,000 square metres to accommodate future expansion plans. It will focus on producing a wide range of savoury, sweet, and snack powders, as well as infant nutrition solutions.
According to the company, construction has started and is expected to be completed within 18 months, with operations scheduled to begin in the first half of 2026, with the event for its initiation attended by key government officials and representatives from Givaudan’s senior leadership team. This significant milestone reaffirms our commitment to going beyond great taste, delivering high-quality products and creating food experiences that truly make a difference.
Givaudan will be showcasing its latest series of applications across sectors, including for confectionery and bakery, with the company displaying a new natural red beet extract that has been designed with heat stability for the cake making market. The business will be at Hall 4.2G81 for the key ingredients event between 19-21 in Frankfurt, Germany.

Set for substantial growth over time, the site is positioned to significantly expand in size over time, as Givaudan continues to invest in cutting-edge technologies and production processes. This strategic facility will enhance Givaudan’s presence in the region, bringing production closer to its customers and providing innovative solutions to meet the increasing demand while contributing to local economic development.
Furthermore, the new production facility will create around 60 jobs across diverse skill sets and drive a health-focused community programme, highlighting Givaudan’s commitment to fostering local talent and the sustainable growth of Indonesia’s economy.

Aligned with the company’s sustainability goals, the new facility is designed with future-proofing in mind, allowing for the integration of sustainable technologies and features, including the utilisation of solar power, recycled water systems, enhanced natural and LED lighting with sensors, purchase of electricity from certified green energy partners, and rainwater harvesting systems. These efforts will minimise the environmental impact and ensure long-term operational efficiency and resilience.
